David T. Stark has been involved in various aspects of public safety since 1975, having served as an Emergency Medical Technician, a Red Cross disaster volunteer, an officer in a university fire brigade, and in a countywide 9-1-1 center performing police, fire, and EMS dispatching functions.  After obtaining his amateur radio license in 1981, he began volunteering in the emergency communications arena.  He has also worked in the private security field as a patrol officer and supervisor.

Following 20 years of life experience after high school, David began attending college, selecting Criminal Justice as the discipline closest to his public safety experience.  He obtained an Associate in Science degree from Monroe Community College in 1997, a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Sociology from SUNY College at Brockport in 1999, received several undergraduate honors, and was admitted to the doctoral program at the SUNY Albany School of Criminal Justice on a one-year fellowship, where he completed a Master of Arts in 2001.  He is enrolled in an online Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration program at Walden University.

David currently holds an Amateur Extra Class license with the callsign NF2G and is an active emergency communications volunteer.  He taught Criminal Justice and Sociology courses as an adjunct instructor at Hudson Valley Community College for five years.  He served as an academic advisor to majors in the Criminal Justice, Forensic Science Studies, Civil & Public Service, and Labor Studies programs at HVCC.  He also belonged to the HVCC Ethics and Conduct Committee and sat on and chaired disciplinary Review Boards, and was a member of the Faculty Senate's Ad Hoc Committee on Distance Learning.

Since the Spring semester in 2007, David has not been called upon to teach many classes at HVCC, although he is still serving as a part-time Education Specialist in the grant-funded Educational Opportunity Program.  He is actively searching for full time permanent work in higher education or public administration, particularly in connection with public safety and emergency management.

In his spare time, David maintains a website for scanner hobbyists and was the founder of NYSING – New York Statewide Incident Notification Group.  He lives in a single room with his two cats.
